About Me

My photo
Hey, it's Chelsy, with a Y! I am a wife to my sweet prince, and mother to one spunky little princess and one handsome little ham of a prince. Painting is my drug of choice. Wine is good too. I'm known to speak without thinking and eat to much chocolate. I love meeting new people, and learning new things. So this is my journey through some not so glorious moments, some not so intelligent thoughts and some possibly crafty ideas.

Snazzy Last Minute Pumpkins

Hey Everybody! Are you ready for All Hallows Eve? No? Me either. I have a few last minute things I need to finish on Rapunzels costume. But I wanted to share with you a super easy and cute craft (that's how I roll) to make for your little ones candy buckets.
Cute, huh?!

All you need is:
A pumpkin bucket (These are everywhere, I got mine at Wal-Mart for $1)
Glue
Glitter
Ribbon

Then, all you do is put a little glue on, sprinkle some glitter, and add your ribbons. Rocket science, huh?! This seriously took me about 20 minutes to do both! If your kids are older, this is a great project for them to do. Mine are still at the age where they would rather eat the glue and glitter than make something fun with it!

For my girls pumpkin, I added a ribbon handle and a few ribbons on the side.

I wasn't sure my boy would appreciate all the ribbon, but I had to do something, so I just added a little bow to the side. Surely he wouldn't mind that, right?

`
Don't worry if they aren't perfect, your little ones will love it. Mine sure did! And the simplicity of it, makes it so worth it!

Now, go make your little ones some super snazzy candy buckets! Thanks for reading!

Happy Halloween,
Chelsy

Highlight of my week!

I’ve learned all my life that it is not polite to brag. Not polite at all. But….BUT…sometimes, like now, I just can’t help myself. This is so super stinking cool, I just had to share it. I know most of you have heard of the 100 Days of Holidays on Parents.com. If not you seriously need to check it out, it went live on Sept. 16 and will run through January 1, 2012. I’m not only mentioning this, because it has tons of super cute, fun and creative crafts and ideas, it also has one of MY creative crafts! I. KNOW. I was so humbled when I received an email asking permission to use my Yarn Snowman. Here is the link that will take you directly to the slideshow that Jack appears in. The slideshow doesn’t air until November 11, so you all are getting a sneak peak! Here is the link to sign up to be emailed all the 100 Days of Holidays crafts.

I absolutely love blogging, and crafting. It’s sometimes hard to find the time to do it, but all the inspiration and admiration I get from my readers makes it totally worth it. Thank you all so much. I can not express how much you all mean to me!

Chicken Alfredo Pizza

Hello my darlings! Are you ready for a super fun and easy recipe? This is one of our favorite meals! It’s so easy and delicious! It’s only four ingredients and is ready start to finish in less than an hour! I make homemade pizza dough using this recipe from Money Saving Mom. (Her site is wonderful btwJ)  Please let me know if you try this recipe, I would love to hear how much you and your family loved it.

Ingredients for Chicken Alfredo Pizza:

Pizza Crust (see recipe below)

½ C. Alfredo Sauce (We use Ragu)

3-4 pieces Boneless Chicken Breast (cooked and seasoned)

2 C. Mozzarella Cheese

You can add peppers, onions, or whatever floats your boat also. But living with picky eaters, we keep it simple.

First, cook your chicken. We prefer it grilled, but do whatever works best for your family. While your chicken is cooling make your pizza crust-

Pizza Crust:

1 Tbsp. active dry yeast

1 cup warm water (105 to 115 degrees F.)

1 tsp. sugar

1 tsp. salt

2 Tbsp. vegetable oil

2 1/2 cups flour

Dissolve the yeast in the water. Add the rest of the ingredients in and mix.

Dump onto a floured surface.

Knead into a smooth dough (five minutes or so).

Roll out and press down onto a greased pizza pan.

Bake 12-15 minutes @450 until crust is slightly brown.

This crust is so easy to work with, but if you can't get a perfectly round crust, don't sweat it! It will taste just as good regardless of it's shape:)

While your crust is cooking chop your chicken. I make my pieces pretty small since I have little ankle biters running around, but you can cut strips or chunks or whatever.

Here is your cooked crust:
After your crust is cooked add your sauce:

I just pour a little bit onto the crust and spread it around with a spoon. I know, I'm to fancy for my own good.
Then sprinkle your she-ken on top of your sauce:

Add your cheese:

And bake until your cheese is all melted and bubbly in the center:

Finally, wipe your drool and enjoy!!

So simple right? And let me assure you, it is just as good as it looks!

Here is a sausage and pepperoni one we made also. Wipe your drool again.

The Feet That Ghosts Are Made Of.

Hey Y'all! Guess what? I have a super fun craft for some of my favorite peeps (that's you;) to make today! I know Halloween is still a few weeks away, but I got the fev-ah. The kids and I created these shirts, and I am so super in love with them!

I've seen a TON of crafts with handprints, but I have this thing with baby feet. I. KNOW. They are so soft and sweet and I wanted to make something with this sweet boys foot before he was too big and too cool to realize how weird I am.

Are you ready to make your own sweet little ghost? Here is what you are going to need:
*T-Shrit (Black would have been ideal for me, but I was working with what I had, and you can too:)
*One cute little eensy weensy foot. (Or in my case, a 3yo with a super huge ginormous foot, because your cute little eensy weensy baby foot wouldn't be still. Just to be clear, I love my super, huge, ginormous, 3yo foot just as much as my eensy, weensy, baby foot;)
*White fabric

*Black fabric
*Buttons, Ribbon, or any other embellishments you feel necessary.
*Iron on Tape (optional)

These are the shirts I used. I think they turned out super cute with these colors.

So, what I did  is traced my childs foot on to paper, cut it out and pinned it to white fabric, backwards, then cut it out.

I also cut out a mouth and drew a squigily circle to use as the arms for my ghost. (I apologize for my wonderful art skills :)
I cut out all my pieces on white fabric, and placed on the shirt.  I decided to mix it up a little and put it up in the top left hand side. I know, I'm a wild one. I used iron on tape to hold our little ghost in place while I sewed it. But it's totally optional.

Then, I just sewed it on, added my eyes, mouth, and a little bow for our girl ghost. I chose to hand sew our new little friend, but it's just as easy to use your machine. And that's it! Don't you just love it?! I know I do! I'll try to upload a picture of our little boy ghost and his bow tie soon.

The ULTIMATE Hairbow tutorial- PT.2

First of all, I would like to say THANK YOU to all my prayer warriors. The fires around us here in Texas are still blazing, but the wind has stopped and the humidity is not nearly as dry as it has been. Please keep praying for all the families, firefighters, and the search teams.

Alrighty peeps, who wants to make another hair bow? You do?! Well, lets get to it then! If you read the above paragraph you know that I live in Texas. And if you know that I live in Texas you know that with the start of football, people be crazy. And if you know that I live in Texas, it's football season, and we're crazy about football, then you know we have to do it BIG! That means big bows! These are my "Homecoming Bows", it's almost like wearing a mum in your hair. Do other states have mums? Is that just a Texas thing? Hmmmm?

Supplies:
3/8, 5/8, 7/8 and 1.5in Ribbon
Large alligator clip
Hot glue
Embroidery thread
Embellishments (beads, chains, bells, ect.)
Pony O, or Hair clip

These bows can be as big or as small and as elaborate or simple as you want. I'm going to go through the steps on how I made this particular one, then you can use your creative juices and make your own. Sound good? Let's go!

First of all you need to know how to make a Tails Down Bow, it's really simple once you get the hang of it, but it is a lot of folding, so be patient with yourself. I'm using 1.5in wide grossgrain ribbon. I don't cut the ribbon off of the roll to make these. I find it is easier to get it the way I want by having all the ribbon at my fingertips.

Decide how long you want your "tails" and hold the ribbon with your left hand(or your right hand, if you're left handed) like so:
With your right hand make a loop behind the tail.
(OH...look...there's that ugly thumb again;)
Then make a loop on the opposite side.
Your bow should look like this after your two loops:

Here's where it gets a little tricky, especially if you have small chubby fingers like me, ha! Make another loop on the left side, then one more on the right.

At this point you should have four loops total.

Take your alligator clip and clamp down the middle. Then take your string and tie your bow tight.

Now cut your second "tail" that's still attatched to the roll off even with the first. And there you have it!

Next we are going to make one more Tails Down Bow. This time with only two loops, it should look just like a simple bow. I'm using 7/8in ribbon for this one. Try to make them as even as possible, but if they aren't it's not that big of a  dea because it will be covered up.

Now we are going to make your "streamers". The measurements of the streamers will depend on how long your tails down bows are. Streamers are really great for using up your scrap ribbon, because they can be any length or size. Gather up 4-6 coordnating ribbons and place the middle of  them all in your clip and tie them together.
Finally comes the assembly! The largest tails down bow will be in the back, then your streamers, and finally your small bow on top. Tie them all together, as tight as possible, with your thread. Take a 6in length of your 7/8in ribbon and tie it in a knot. The knot will be in the middle and your two long end will wrap around the bow. Glue in place then attatch to your clip.

I get a lot of requests for these bows to be on pony o's, if you prefer them that way then the only thing I would do differntly is glue your pony o on before you glue the ribbon around the middle. Like this:

Then glue the ribbon over it. That's it! Not too hard is it?

Now then, go make yourself some cute-ness!!

Please email me or comment below if you have any questions. You can comment even if you don't have a question, it would make my day!

Happy Wednesday,
Chelsy
