About Me

My photo
Hey, it's Chelsy, with a Y! I am a wife to my sweet prince, and mother to one spunky little princess and one handsome little ham of a prince. Painting is my drug of choice. Wine is good too. I'm known to speak without thinking and eat to much chocolate. I love meeting new people, and learning new things. So this is my journey through some not so glorious moments, some not so intelligent thoughts and some possibly crafty ideas.

Guess who's here?!

JAXON HAP PHILLIPS!!

Jaxon was born on July 13 at 12:43p.m., he came in weighing a whopping 8lbs. 2oz. and was 21 inches long! According to my doctor, if he had been full term, Jaxon would have weighed over 10 pounds, YIKES! He was 2 weeks early, but healthy as horse!

Big Sister is very proud of her Little Brother! She has been so good, and it has been such a blessing. She loves to hold him, and help with diaper changes. And kisses him goodnight and goodmorning everyday:)

Jaxon is proving to be a very laid back and easy baby, yay! He has put himself on a 3.5-4 hour eating schedule, and goes 5 or 6 hours at night. I know, lucky me! He rarely cries, and so far the only thing that gets him truly upset is a cold wipe on his hieney!

Jaxon's 2-day checkup after leaving the hospital went great, except for the fact that he peed all over everything! His 2-day stats were 7lbs. 15oz. And we are still waiting for his two week checkup, even though he will be three weeks tomorrow...I'm a little frustrated! We are going to be seeing a new pediatrician, who comes highly reccommended and is apparently very busy!

So, we are loving our new little boy and think he fits perfectly into our now family of four! Although, we decided that boys are definately harder to change and clean, and they poop and pee on EVERYTHING!!

1 Day Old

Going Home!! Yay!

And I can't forget about this Little Lady!

Miss Taylor is a talking machine! She wakes up talking or singing and doesn't stop until she goes to bed, seriously! But like I said before, she has been so good with Jaxon and hasn't showed any signs of jealousy, which is something I was really concerned about. Taylor is now counting to 25, saying her ABC's and recognizing all of the letters and sounds they make. She is talking in more complete sentences and asking a MILLION questions! Her current love intrest is Buzz Lightyear and she is really into VeggieTales! We love her so much and are pretty sure she's a keeper!

Happy Monday,

Busy, Busy!

Wow...I can't believe it's been a whole month since my last post. Ummm...can you say "Slacker"? I can, and I do quite often. Anyway- Things have been pretty busy in the Phillips household lately:

Miss Taylor turned 2, and is learning lots of new and exciting things. Potty training being one of them. She is in full potty training mode and hating every second of it. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, any advice? When we first found out baby number 2 was on the way I told myself she would be potty trained before he got here because I WAS NOT buying two boxes of diapers. Uh...yeah...pretty sure I'm going to be buying two boxes of diapers!

Speaking of our little guy on the way- Things are going pretty well to say the least and I am so thankful I haven't had to be on bedrest with this little guy! My blood pressure has been a little high and my protien went up a bit at my last appt.  but I feel great, 100 times better than I did the first go round, so I'm not worried and I'm hoping for a fairly normal delivery! I have about 8 weeks left...YIKES...I better get busy! We think we have a name, but aren't 100% so I don't want to announce anything just yet, but I promise I will let you know as soon as I do. Taylor is pretty excited about her little brother, I think! She will bring me toys and tell me she wants to give them to the baby, or at the store she will see things and tell me that we need to buy it for the baby! It's really sweet! Of course the other half of the time she is hitting me in the belly and telling me she doesn't want a baby, guess we will just wait and see what happens!

Let's see...what else has been going on? Taylor had a great Easter and was a pro at hunting eggs!

Here is a picture of Taylor and Cousin Owen last year at Easter, and then this year. I can't believe how much difference a year makes... can you?!

We've also been working on the car...Theres always something wrong with it!
And making beautiful works of art on the sidewalk...with the help of that darn cat, of course! He rarely leaves her side.
We've been swimming...Taylor picked out her swimsuit all by herself :)
We have also indulged in a few ice cream cones!
And just had fun being silly...
Some new milestones the little lady has accomplished is: *Counting to 15. *Saying most of her ABC's, she knows all the letters, just not the order they all go in! *She knows all of her shapes and colors. *And is speaking in complete sentences, most of the time :)

It's a Party....a SHOE Party!!!

Miss Beth over at The Stories of A to Z is having another party, a Shoe Party! What woman doesn't love shoes? I know I do...they are so versatile and most importantly, they always fit! I feel much less stress about this party then the last one! There are so many great post's over there so please go check them out!

But first I need to address a few orders of business before we get to the PAR-TAY!
Numero Uno: Last friday the Little Lady had her 2nd Birthday! I know, I can't believe it either! We had a great day and a fun trip to the zoo!
And B: On the same last friday that Little Miss turned 2, we went to the doctor for a sonogram and found out....
IT'S A BOY!!!

Ok- Now that we got the bussiness out of the way...Let's party our shoes off!
This first pair of shoes are my ABSOLUTE favorite, and seriously are the most comfortable heels evvvveeerrr! I got them at Tar-Jay probably four years ago, (can you tell?) and I am still in love with them after all these years!

The second pair I choose to share are the A-DOR-A-BLE wedges! I don't even remember where they came from, but I'm sure they were cheap and a 10 on the cuteness factor so that's why they live in my closet now :)

These are my favorite pair of flats at the moment...

My favorite Tennies...

And finally, I would like to indroduce you to Flip and Flop, they love me so much because I named them. They are $3 Old Navy ones, and they are probably what you will find me in most days....

unless it's this! Pregnant and bare-foot is how I like to be!
Ooooh....here is a pair that I found to add to my Shoe Wish List... What?! You don't have a Shoe Wish List? Shame on you.... ;)

P.S. It's not very easy to take pictures of your feet when your prego, so sorry for any wonky pics! This it what I see when I look down!

Green Eggs and Ham a` la Sam-I-Am

Today is the Birthday of the great Dr. Seuss, so in his honor why not make your little ones Green Eggs and Ham?! And read them this book-
(Or any book!)
Ingredients:

1-2 tablespoons of butter or margarine
4 slices of ham
8 eggs
2 tablespoons of milk
1-2 drops of green food coloring
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1/4 teaspoon of pepper

1. Melt a teaspoon of butter in a large frying pan over medium heat. Add sliced ham and brown until edges are slightly crisp. Remove the ham from the pan, cover with aluminum foil, and set aside.

2. In a medium-size mixing bowl, combine the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper. Beat with a whisk until frothy. Then add 1-2 drops of green food coloring until you reach the desired shade of green.

3. Heat a tablespoon of butter or margarine in a large frying pan over medium heat until the butter begins to sizzle. Then add the egg mixture to the pan.

4. Stir the egg mixture with a spatula until the eggs are firm and not too runny.

5. Transfer the eggs to individual plates. Garnish with a sprig of parsley. Add the ham prepared earlier. Serve with toast or warm rolls.

Feeds 4 hungry green-egg lovers.

*This recipe is found on the Seussville website. There are lots of great projects and activities there. http://www.seussville.com/

Have fun and enjoy!

Get your (brave) face on!

The very wonderful Beth over at The Stories of A to Z issued a challenge, where you show EVERYONE in the blogosphere your nakey face and then show the steps to how you put your face on.  At first I thought the woman had lost her marbles! Show people my bare/pimple infested/swollen pregnancy face?? Uhhhh....No thank you! But then I realized a couple of things. 1. I'm not going to be the only person showing people my nakey face. And 2. I only have 5 followers, so showing the whole blogosphere might be a little dramatic. So here goes:

So here I am straight out of the shower, with a squeeeeeky clean face. How did it get so clean you ask?

Why, with this little bar of soap of course! It's seriously the best thing I have ever used to wash my face. My Grandma always used Ivory soap to wash her face, so I like to think of this as the soap of the 21st century.

(I'm not sure why this is side-ways)
On really oily days I use this and just rub it on with a cotton ball. I also use it alot at night, when I too lazy to wash my face and I know I need to get my make-up off.

Next is concealer/foundation/powder. In case you haven't figured it out yet- I have really oily skin. And with this pregnancy, I have had alot of break-outs.  It's hard for me to commit to a foundation because it seems like they all make me oily- even if they claim not to! But I am loving this Covergirl Clean make-up. It's new, and it's also fragrance and oil free. I've only been using it a couple of weeks, but so far, so good! I use a concealer stick under my eyes and to cover pimples. First, I apply the foundation with one of these:
Then I apply the concealer, and finally pressed powder to set.

I'm not big on blush, and I honestly have no idea what kind this is. I just swirl the brush around all three colors and apply it to my apples. I've also been known to do this before I put powder on so that it looks less like blush and more like a natural rosy glow.

I got this eye-shadow pallet on the right for Christmas and I LOVE IT! It's so much fun! The eye shadow on the left is a mineral one that is light pink. I apply it all over my lids and line along the bottom. Then I apply one of the darker shades in the crease of my lids and blend it with a Q-tip. Then I add a lighter shade right above my lashes.  A tip I learned from who knows where is to apply white eye shadow in the inside corner of your eyes to make them "pop". Sometimes I do this if I remember.
I then apply a brown eye liner pencil on top and bottom. And I use this:
to smudge the top eye liner a little. Then a coat of mascara, and I use a toothbrush (from Jr. High...Seriously!) to brush my lashes and eye brows. Then apply another coat of mascara. I love Max Factor 2000 Calorie.

And finally, my kisser. I just use and eye liner pencil to line and fill in my lips. This one is from Ulta, it's Flesh on one end and Rose on the other. I don't pay attention to which end is which, so sometimes I'm fleshy and sometimes I'm rosey! Then I add my Burts Bees and call it good.

Then I'm done. My hair is still wet, but I couldn't fix it because of this:
You guessed it- I do my make-up while this little lady is in the tub beside me! This routine takes me about five minutes. On nights that I'm going out with the Hubby I switch it up a little and use some bronzer and a smokey eye look. But this above is how you will see me most days. (Except with dry hair!)
Thanks again Beth- this really was fun!!
